Sisuist guide

Why Sisuist exists

An autistic family turning lived experience into practical, adaptable starting points.

Sisuist began inside a family learning how much of everyday life has to be reconsidered when you are raising an autistic child. Communication, food, sleep, school, leaving the house, money, relationships, and rest all become connected.

We are not trying to win at autism. We are trying to build a family life that remains ours.

Why a directory

A personal story can make someone feel less alone. A well-documented idea can also give them somewhere to begin. Sisuist combines both: honest family notes alongside a practical directory of routines, tools, adaptations, questions, and things worth trying.

Nothing here is presented as the answer. Every autistic child is different. Every caregiver has a different home, budget, support network, culture, capacity, and breaking point. We explain the context around an idea so another family can adapt it or confidently leave it.

What we mean by practical

We care about cost, time, caregiver effort, maintenance, privacy, safety, and what happens on a bad day. A technically perfect solution is not useful if an exhausted caregiver cannot keep it running.

We also explore technology and making: small AI-powered helper apps, 3D-printed adaptations, tactile and 3D-texture UV printing, electronics, and home automation. The goal is never technology for its own sake. The goal is removing one piece of avoidable friction.

Our editorial promise

  • We share lived experience, not medical advice.
  • We protect our child’s dignity and private life.
  • We document failures, limits, and trade-offs.
  • We do not promise cures or universal results.
  • We distinguish personal experience from professional or researched guidance.
  • We leave room for autistic perspectives, change, and correction.

Sisuist is built slowly, from the inside out: one difficult moment, one adaptation, and one honest account at a time.
